maps
For personal use a map was made in 2004 of the town of Elburg in the Netherlands with important locations for the Wijnne family indicated. The map is based on available data. The map is available as a vector-based file (PDF, 70kb).
For the same project, an extensive map was made of the town of Elburg and its surrounding roads and lanes. The map is largely based on the cadastral maps from 1827 available online. These high resolution 1827 maps were cleaned up in Photoshop and then imported into Illustrator as a template for the new map. Information about roads was extracted and reasonable guesses were made as to which roads were the original roads from the middle ages and which ones were new (late 18th early 19th century). The map of Elburg and surrounding roads is available as a vector based file (Aug 2005, PDF, 197kb).
research newsletter
A research newsletter came out every month for a few years and was sent as a PDF file. A list of issues is on the website of the Department of Physics at Strathclyde.
logo
Logo and branding for the department of Physics at Strathclyde. After the RAE in 2000, it was decided that the Department of Physics had to brand itself better in order to attract more students (undergrad as well as postgrad) and to present itself, its teaching, and its research better to the outside world. A departmental font was chosen (Officina in serif and sans serif versions) and a logo designed. The three fields in the logo represent the three research divisions: The red waves for the optics division, the blue cirles for the plasmas division, and the green layers for the materials division. The website of the department was all redone using the new brand. Currently the content of the website is being overhauled to better represent the department research and to highlight the carreers of the department's students. Various versions of the logo can be downloaded from the information section of the physics website.
